It is also a short 4-hour drive from the Ruidoso Ski Resort and many lakes. The Midland/ Odessa area has many assortments of museums to check out. Midland is home to the I-20 wildlife preserve, the Sibley nature center, and the Wagner Noel Performing arts Center where you can see a wide variety of entertainment. Many families have chosen the suburb of Greenwood with the Greenwood ISD schools for smaller class sizes and an excellent education. This allows for a small-town feel with a bigger city’s offerings nearby. After all, we are in the heart of the Permian Basin and the oil industry center of the state. Veterinarian

At Mesa Verde Animal Clinic, we are a practice that provides gentle, compassionate care for companion animals. Our practice is known for high-quality, cat-friendly, affordable care in the area. We treat dogs and cats as well as the occasional small pocket pets. We have a strong, cross-trained support staff composed of 4 Veterinary Technicians, 4 Client Service Representatives, and 4 Kennel Assistants. Mesa Verde Animal Clinic values a positive, upbeat culture. It excels in customer service, medicine, and surgery, so our client’s fur kids can lead happy and healthy lives!

Our hours are 8:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday- Friday, 8:30 am – 12:00 pm on Saturdays, and we are closed on Sundays. Our ideal candidate is an experienced, creative, driven veterinarian looking to join our family and guide a talented and dedicated team to the next level! All candidates need to be able to display strong guidance and leadership as well as proficient surgical skills. We are looking for someone who feels as strongly as we do about providing the highest level of care to our patients and showing empathy, every time, for both the patient and the client.

Veterinary Technician

Our practice is excited to add another Veterinary Technician to our team! We are looking for an individual who is good at communicating, organization, and multi-tasking and ready to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate would have at least 1-2 years of experience in veterinary medicine and can draw blood and place a catheter.

  • Able to perform basic animal handling and restraint
  • Be able to position for radiographs accurately
  • Assist veterinarians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery
  • Perform in-hospital lab testing and prepare specimens for outside labs
  • Assist veterinarians in outpatient exams by taking histories, vital signs, and weights, as well as providing client education
  • Collect and prepare diagnostic samples
  • Anesthesia monitoring
  • Assist in maintaining practice equipment
  • Assist veterinarian performing surgery
  • Assist veterinarians in any other assigned tasks
  • Maintain cleanliness of surgery suite, treatment area, and exam rooms for all surfaces.
  • Support DEA compliance as it relates to the role
  • Any other duties as assigned
  • Experience handling exotic animals is a plus

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary medicine experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 40 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 40 pounds with assistance
  • Practice OSHA safety techniques, including proper PPE
  • Computer skills, MS Office applications, etc.

Pay: $15.00 – $18.00 per hour

Client Service Representative/Kennel Assistant
Established in 1987, Mesa Verde Animal Clinic in Midland, TX has been in continuous operation since as a full-service veterinary practice. We strive to provide high-quality yet affordable medicine and surgical services for our patients. Our team believes all pets deserve quality care! We proudly treat cats and dogs in the Midland-Odessa area.

Position Purpose
Reporting into the Practice Manager, the Client Service Representative (CSR), provides an exceptional experience to our clients during every interaction. In addition to continually engaging the client, the CSR performs practice administrative tasks such as record maintenance and appointment tracking. The CSR manages practice reception (visitor and telephone), maintenance of veterinary medical records, accounts maintenance, cash processing, data entry, word processing and mail services. The CSR applies practical knowledge of practice processes and services, the basic rules and regulations governing visitors and animal patient treatment, and veterinary record requirements and terminology to ensure every patient is well-cared for and every client has an exceptional experience.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Leads practice opening and closing procedures per Practice Manager instructions and practice procedures.
  • Ensures all public areas are clean and presentable for patients; cleans and straightens areas including the front desk, reception area, waiting area, office, public bathroom(s) and exam rooms.
  • Processes cash, checks, charge card payments and credit account payments.
  • Schedules appointments for the clinic adhering to practice and Doctor preferences and ensure appropriate workflow.
  • Assists in the updating of client/patient files, as needed.
  • Prepares and sends client correspondence.

  • Sends reminder notices to clients for periodic notifications; conducts re-calls to clients on a timely basis from a call back list.

  • Performs a backup of the computer system on a regular basis, as directed.

  • Performs and oversees the performance of posting daily business.

  • Welcomes clients and patients to the practice with a warm and friendly demeanor and ensures an excellent experience during the practice visit.

  • Answers incoming telephone calls applying proper telephone etiquette.

  • Presents clients with medications, instructions, new client kits and any other take home items.

  • Handles emergency situations with great care, patience, and following established clinic policies and procedures. 

  • Addresses client concerns in a calm appropriate manner, ensuring every experience ends in satisfaction.

  • Provides great care for patients visiting the practice for grooming and / or boarding.

  • Ensures patients are admitted noting the client’s specific instructions to ensure a quality outcome including contact information and pick up time.

  • Accurately and legibly records information related to the patient such as feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior during practice visit.

  • Observes patient’s appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent.

  • Appropriately handles patients and as needed, properly restrains hard-to-control patients.

  • Walks patients several times a day to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder.

  • Ensures cages and patients are properly numbered and identified and that personal property (toys, treats, blankets, leashes) are stored in the proper areas and identified.

  • Regularly cleans, disinfects and maintain kennels, cages, runs and stalls as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent.  Performs general cleaning in other areas of the hospital to control the spread of disease. Washes and sterilizes water and food bowls.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Ability to work on weekends as required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous veterinary experience preferred
  • Practices OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
