At our clinic, we are proud to provide spays, neuters, soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries throughout the week. Before surgery, we compile blood and serum chemistry profiles depending on your pet’s age. These profiles help us determine the best course of action regarding anesthetics, and to plan ahead for any possible complications.
This is especially recommended for older pets. Usually, after surgery, we will prescribe oral pain medication for your pet.
Here are some guidelines for your pet when he or she is scheduled for surgery:
- Don’t let your pet eat any food past 10 p.m.
- Bring your pet to our office by 8 a.m.
- Some pets are able to go home the day of the surgery, but others will have to stay overnight. We will let you know when you can pick up your pet.
- Follow our post-surgery instructions as best as you can, to help your pet have a smooth, quick recovery!
